Jake Whetter

Jake Whetter has hosted multiple programs on broadcast and digital platforms including the Emmy® Award-winning Oscar red carpet pre-show, “Backstage Pass,” “Live from the Red Carpet” at the 44th Annual Country Music Association Awards, “Destination ABC,” Dick Clark Productions’ “Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live at The 40th Anniversary of the American Music Awards," and “Dancing With The Stars Pre-show.”

With a combination of professionalism mixed with an easygoing nature, Whetter has spent countless hours on the sets of movies, TV shows and music videos bringing exclusive content to audiences around the world. No stranger to the red carpet, he has also covered some of Hollywood's biggest premieres and interviewed countless stars from Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mila Kunis to Selena Gomez, One Direction and Katy Perry. To add to his already impressive resume, he has even appeared on Broadway.

Whetter’s career in entertainment may come as a surprise as he spent much of his youth far from the lights of Hollywood raising cattle, pigs and horses in the desert of Arizona. On an impromptu trip to New York City, he found himself at 30 Rockefeller Plaza awestruck by his surroundings and determined to fulfill his dreams and passions beyond the life he was living back home. Even though proud of his upbringing, it was then that Whetter decided to hang up his dusty boots and began preparing for a new journey that eventually led him into the world of radio and television.

It was during Whetter’s college years when his life would ultimately change forever. While working a part-time job, Whetter’s boss requested him to voice a sponsorship video for a local award show. He was invited to attend, which is where he met a local radio personality, and within two days was in the radio studio shadowing the morning show team. Never lacking drive and ambition, Whetter was hired by Clear Channel Communications just two weeks later. His momentum was growing fast and he expeditiously climbed the ranks to midday on-air personality for one of Clear Channel’s biggest stations, 92.9 The Mountain KWMT-FM, in Tucson, Arizona.

As it always does with Whetter, his dream grew bigger and he relocated to Los Angeles in 2006 where he would utilize his talents not only behind the mic, but in front of the camera. He quickly became a favorite on-air personality for Disney/ABC as the celebrity entertainment reporter and “Top 30 Countdown” host for Radio Disney, the #1 24-hour radio network devoted to kids, tweens and families. Whetter also hosted three seasons of the popular musical talent showcase “N.B.T.” (Next Big Thing) on Radio Disney and Disney Channel.

Whetter’s work keeps him very busy but he still finds time to unwind and loves spontaneous worldwide travel adventures, spinning, working out daily, tweeting and instagramming with his nearly 200,000 followers, and oh yeah, singing off-key.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, and raised in a nearby suburb, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of Arizona. He resides in Los Angeles, California.
